The Role of Betting in Poker Games

Monday, August 25th, 2008

In every Poker games like Omaha or even the Texas Holdem, betting cannot be taken out of the games. There will come a point where in a bet has to be made. But betting shouldn’t be a spur of the moment decision. It has to be an informed decision as well so that winning can be optimized.

And regardless of the Online Poker games that you play online, betting needs to be done. And as a result the best betting strategies should be used in order to get the desired results. Knowing the best strategies will mean that the player will not be taken out of the game early. A worse place bet means a lot in this card game. For example no matter how good you are and no matter how many practices you have made in the past once you made the wrong betting move then that would be the end of it all. In just one mistake, all your efforts will soon crumble down. This is the reason why the right strategies should be used at all time.

In this card game, there are basically five betting actions that players must learn. The first one is the bet. Here in this type of action, you are the first person in hand to bet on something. The fold is another; in this action you decline to have any further part in the hand. The call is another concept that should be remembered. In the call, you are seeing someone else’s bet. In check, you don’t do any betting but you still have the cards in your hand. This can be done if no one before you has placed his bet. The concept of raise on the other hand means raising the previous bet of the previous player. So knowing all these concepts and learning when to use them will spell the difference between winning and losing. So when can a person bet in this card game?

Of course bet if you have a good hand but the bet shouldn’t be too enormous to scare away the rest of the players. So when can a player call? Call if the card at hand is okay or can get better. If the person has the best hand or thinks that he has the good hand, then raise will be the option. Now folding is a much simpler and safer option. If you don’t have a strong hand, then folding is the only option. If the bet is even, you can check. The check on raise should only be done when you have a strong hand otherwise you risks losing lots of chips on Poker Rooms.

And of course in almost all card games, the player shouldn’t be too predictable. You shouldn’t be pegged by the other players on the table. Someone said that it pays to be poker faced. Show no emotions no matter how good your hand may be. Simple steps, and betting strategies will make you the winner in any Poker Games or in n any Poker Tournaments.

Strategies for Hold’em Poker Flop

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Now that your friends want to play Hold’em flop with you, be sure that you should be ready with some strategies. Now perhaps you may be asking why strategy may be needed in this variation of the card game. In the past poker games with your friends, you always end up winning it all. So what’s the need for plans and strategies?

Remember that no matter how good you are, or no matter how long you have been playing on Poker Tournaments, it should be remembered that a plan is still necessary. These plans or poker strategies will help you cope up with the game and will ultimately facilitate your easy win against your friends and the other players in the Poker Rooms.

So what are some of the Texas Hold’em poker flop strategies that you can use? From the name itself, the most important part of the game is the flop. The flop is that stage that can effectively alter the hand and of course the stages that can help sway the match. Just how important is this stage in this card game? Well let’s put it this way’ a player can effectively move from being the best hand to the worst or the other way around. So it is imperative that the interested player should learn to master this stage if he wants to master this game.

In this variation of the card game, the common mistake is that players tend to be too attached to their hands. This is especially true if the player thinks that the value of the cards he is holding is high enough. But from the outsider’s point of view, it is better to fold than to play. When it comes to flop, then what the person holds in his hand no matter how ‘high’ will be turned into thrash. It is suggested as well to evaluate if what the person has in his hand is thrash. The flop actually determines who amongst the players have a good hand and who amongst those in the table have a thrash hand. This is the question that needs to be asked by the player. Is it of good value or is it a thrash. If the person has a good hand, then bet should follow and a raise should happen now. And if the person has the thrash hand, then it is suggested to fold at the first chance in any Poker Games.

Others say that the Texas Hold’em is the type of online poker game that is least recommended for those players who have a thrash hand. In poker games like these, it is suggested as well to try and reach for a better hand. If the person has a hand that is close to reach the high hand and the player thinks that he can reach it at the turn or at the river, then the person can consider running with the hand as his optional flop strategy. This is applicable to low limit games where the risks are less considerable.

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Most of the Poker Rooms that you can see in the internet have their own promotions in order to drive traffic to their sites and to their Poker Games. These promotions are popular and these may come in different types and forms.

One popular type of promotion that is usually adopted by these sites is what the industry calls as the deposit Poker Bonuses. For sure you have met these words when you are online and you are on the lookout for poker rooms and tournaments over at the internet. The many online rooms that you see in the internet offer deposit bonuses for new players on the site.

For example if you plan on playing the Omaha or the Texas Holdem version of the game, some of these rooms will offer you and the other online players deposit bonuses. There are two types of deposit bonuses that can be offered by these sites. These bonuses include the signup bonuses and the reload bonuses. From the names of the bonuses alone for sure you will have an idea as to the difference between these two bonuses.

Let’s take what a signup bonus means. This is the type of bonus that is usually given to the new player in the room. For example once a player enters Party Poker, and then a signup bonus will be offered to the new player. This is the bonus that is given once you or the other player makes the first deposit. The reason for giving up this kind of bonus is that this can help entice new customers to try out the poker room.

The other type of bonus that can be offered at sites is the reload bonus. So how is this different from the signup bonus? This kind of bonus is the kind of incentive given to the existing player inside the playing room. The aim of this kind of bonus in the site is to make sure that players like you will remain loyal to the site. The offering of this kind of bonus will also encourage the dormant and the inactive player to come back and play more games on the site. It doesn’t mean that the player will only play the more famous variations of card game, but all card games like the lesser known five card stud. The giving out of reload bonuses may differ from site to site, for example the Poker Room offers bonuses at an intermittent manner.

And perhaps the most important and the most popular bonus out there is the cash bonus. Intermediate Mistakes to Avoid

Monday, August 25th, 2008

So you call yourself a player that can be labeled as an intermediate. Well there is nothing wrong with this term, in fact the good poker tournaments players of today started small as well. They were players with little or small skills. But they took their Poker Games seriously and they practiced during their free times. And we know now the results; they are the big guns right now in the market.

So when your skills are labeled as intermediate, then you have nothing to worry. Think of it as a ladder as well; and you are just starting to make your ascent to the top echelons of the game. Being in the intermediate level means that your skill levels are just at the lower level, and because of this you will be prone to a number of mistakes and errors when playing the game. This can be expected from someone who is new to the game. But if the mistakes can be lessened, then that will be good news.

If you are an intermediate player, just make sure that you avoid the usual mistakes that are often committed by inexperienced players. So what are these common mistakes, or simply called as intermediate mistakes? Here is mistake number one; failure to consider the opponents hands. This is obvious; of course a player will lose if the cards of the opposing player aren’t taken into consideration. This card game called Online Poker is a game of relative strength. So what does relative strength means in the context of this card game?

Well in this card game, it doesn’t matter if the cards in your hand are strong. What matters here is how strong your set of cards is in relation to the cards held by the other player. Intermediate players have this habit to focus more on their cards. Well this is one mistake that intermediate players like you should never attempt to do. It is suggested as well that you factor in the cards held by the other player. To be able to read the cards of the other player on the table is a good indication that you are in the right track.

To do well on poker games, it is imperative that the opponents’ playing style should be taken into consideration. Here is mistake number two; playing too many multi-table poker tournaments. Playing in this kind of tournaments means great luck is involved. Though skill may be a factor, there is no denying the fact that luck is significant as ever when more people are playing in the tournament.

Yes Poker Tournaments may be good to experience and can be truly enjoyable; playing in this kind of situation may limit you in winning the prize. So does this mean that is better to play on ring games than on big tournaments? Well it may be good but you have to remember that stakes are low on ring games. Also the players here are not that good. But ring games are perfect areas where you can practice your skill without losing much money.

So play Omaha or Texas Hold’em here, and practice what you know. But just remember those common faults and don’t fall into that trap.

Quit for Awhile; It Will Do Some Help

Monday, August 25th, 2008

The winner takes it all so they say, and well this is applicable as well in card games like Omaha, Texas Hold’em and other variations of this popular card game. That is why it is imperative that a player should be ready for any eventuality and always assume that it isn’t always good news at the end of the day.

So what needs to be done in order to make sure that you will be ready to accept defeat when defeat is looking at you? It is suggested that you should know as well when to end it and when to raise the white towel. No one loves to lose and it is human nature that motivates people to always seek a win no matter what. But it has to be remembered that there is a winner and there are losers. Expect that there will be a lot of days wherein you will lose and you will lose big-time. So here is a short tip for you that you can follow just in case you are busy with playing this card game in many Poker Rooms on casinos.

Knowing when to call it quits will do your bankroll good. This is a tried and tested tip and you should heed this as well. Also this is truly applicable if you play this different version of the card game called Limit Omaha. In this card game, it is suggested that you should quit the game the moment you have a swing of more than 40 big bets. This amount is truly big in the limit type of the card game. So having more than 40 swings will put you to the edge.

Well you can still continue the game even if you have more than 40 swings; that can happen when the game is really good. Another good reason to quit is when you think you are tilting. So what is tilting and how can you tell that you are tilting. Here are some tips that can help you decide if you are tilting.

If you think that your opponents are always bluffing, then that’s tilting. Another good indication is when you want to break even for the day. Another indication that you are tilting when you want to get back into the poker games action as soon as possible. Watch out for these signs.

Often you also need to get out of the Poker Games when you think you have played enough. This is true for all the variations of the card game. So how will you know that you have played enough and it’s time to say enough is enough? Well one good sign is when you notice that you have fallen asleep on the table. Check the watch as well; have you been playing for more than ten hours? If your answer is yes; then it’s time to excuse yourself.

Here is another quick tip that you will find helpful; it is better to play short or medium sessions than go for few long ones. This kind of strategy can optimize your skills and can allow you to be more precise on the table. There is nothing wrong in playing this game in poker rooms or through Online Poker; but make sure that time spent won’t be too much.
